Allen Thompson

Senior Pastor

First Year at Fairview: 2018

Bio: Allen grew up in the mountains of Virginia and North Carolina before attending Duke University (B.A., Political Science), Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and Fuller Theological Seminary (D.Min.). He came to Fairview in 2018 after serving churches in Danville, VA (First Presbyterian), and Atlanta, GA (Peachtree Presbyterian— the third pastor to serve both Peachtree and Fairview).  For 2024, Allen will also be the Moderator of ECO’s Presbytery of South Carolina.  His wife, Kelsey, is a Marriage and Family Therapist in Augusta (B.S., Presbyterian College; MMFT, Converse College), and they have two children.

Allen enjoys golf, hiking, camping, cooking pigs, ice climbing, and live music.  He loves to imagine being in the story and culture of the Bible, wondering how we might have responded to God then and how we can follow Jesus now.  As an “ideas” person, Allen is passionate about working with others to find out how God is calling us to use the many gifts and resources the Holy Spirit provides.  


Dan Morris

Associate Pastor for Discipleship

First Year at Fairview: 2020

Bio: Originally from Northern Ohio, Dan and his wife, Taylor, made South Carolina their home in 2020. They first met in college doing youth ministry through their local church and were married in 2014 after Dan graduated from Cedarville University (B.A., Youth Ministry, Christian Education, & Pre-Seminary Bible). After a couple gap years, they migrated to Massachusetts for Dan’s studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity / M.A., Counseling) before he received his call to Fairview. Taylor is as an elementary school teacher, and they have one daughter.

Dan enjoys baking, making pizza from scratch, playing sports (ultimate frisbee, racquetball), reading good books, and watching quality films. The most important thing about Dan, though, is the love and grace that his Lord Jesus Christ is working in and through him. His personal mission is to stir others’ love for Christ & guide them toward spiritual maturity.


Masaki Chiba

Assistant Pastor

First Year at Fairview: 2004

Bio: Masaki was born and raised in Japan until he came to the US at the age of 18. After serving church in Nunda, NY, Masaki was called by Fairview in 2004 to serve as a Minister of Discipleship and later as a Minister of Administration. In 2019, he accepted a position as the Area Director for the Christian Medical and Dental Associations Augusta and has been leading discipleship and outreach ministries for healthcare students and professionals in Augusta area. He stayed as a part-time Assistant Pastor of Congregational Care at Fairview to assist pastoral care ministries at the church. Masaki enjoys working with people to develop mission and outreach opportunities, locally and internationally, sharing the gospel and making disciples of all nations. He and his wife, Charisse, have three children, Mia, Luc, and Kai.

Masaki holds a Master of Divinity (Princeton) and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography (State University of New York).


MARTHA PONDER

Commissioned Lay Pastor for Congregational Flourishing

First Year at Fairview: 1981

Bio: Martha grew up in central Vermont and later journeyed south to Thomasville, GA after graduating from the University of Vermont with a degree in medical technology. Her career in clinical laboratories took her from Thomasville to Anderson, SC and finally to Augusta, GA. She enjoys traveling, gardening, music, Bible study, and spending time with her daughters and their husbands. Martha desires to help others flourish through biblical literacy and by using their gifts to glorify and enjoy God.

During 14 years of study with Bible Study Fellowship, Martha received training to be a BSF small group leader and served in that role for 11 years. She has served as a deacon, elder, Bible study facilitator, youth leader, and Sunday School teacher at Fairview. In 2020, Martha began a Commissioned Lay Pastor (CLP) training offered by our denomination (ECO) and was commissioned as a Lay Pastor in November 2021.


Andrew May

Director of Youth Formation & Ministry

First Year at Fairview: 2021

Bio: Born and raised in Anderson, SC, Andrew spent his middle and high school years in Virginia before attending college in Raleigh, NC. He then served for 18 months as a missionary apprentice in Granada, Spain ministering to youth, college students, men, and immigrants. After returning to the states, Andrew began a seminary program in St. Louis, MO and is continuing those studies part time. His driving passion in ministry is to help youth know and embrace their identity as sons and daughters of the King of the Universe while growing their personal relationship with Jesus. Andrew loves cooking, geocaching, eating meals with friends, and watching or playing almost any sport.

Andrew holds a B.S. in Science, Technology, and Society (NC State University) and is working on a Master of Divinity (Covenant Theological Seminary).


Alan Leach

Organist and Director of Sacred Music

First Year at Fairview: 2021

Bio: Alan first served as a musician (pianist) at the age of fourteen in the church where his grandfather pastored. Since then, he has been an organist, choir director, and/or choirmaster at numerous churches including a presbyterian church plant in John’s Creek, GA and Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church in Clarkesville, GA. Besides directing and making music, Alan enjoys spending time with his two children, Luke and Avery Claire. He also likes gardening, listening to a variety of music, taking walks, and hiking.

In addition to his work at Fairview, Alan serves as a chaplain at Hospice Services of Georgia and South Carolina. He is also a member of the Augusta Chapter of the American Guild of Organists

Alan holds a Master of Divinity (Yale) and a Bachelor of Science in Education (University of Georgia), and he has completed practical and theoretical music coursework.


Charlene Usry

Administrative Assistant

First Year at Fairview: 1996

Bio: Charlene is married to Chuck who runs his own IT company in retirement. Together they have two sons, Trevor and Joshua. Charlene enjoys reading, playing tennis, and cooking (especially trying new recipes). However, her favorite things to do are planning family trips or special get togethers and making any occasion a celebration. Charlene is also famous (or infamous) for starting Christmas planning as early as the end of September! She enjoys her work at Fairview and considers it her ministry.


Angel Pritchett

Church Accountant

First Year at Fairview: 2021

Bio: Angel is a CPA that specializes in church accounting with over 20 years of experience. She graduated from Augusta College in 1994 and earned her CPA certification in 2000. She works part time at Fairview on Mondays and Wednesdays. She also works at 5 other churches and runs her own accounting practice specializing in small business and individual and corporate income taxes. When she is not crunching numbers, she loves to travel, mostly in the United States to places like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and New York City. Her goal is to see all 50 states and all national parks. She enjoys spending time with her family whether it's traveling or playing board games. Angel is married to her husband, James, and has two daughters, Brittany and Kayla.


Patrick Rodgers

Morning Watch Music Coordinator

First Year at Fairview: 2008

Bio: Born and raised in North Augusta, Patrick has played in the Fairview contemporary service since 2008, before it even had a name. In addition to playing in the band, he also leads a young adult Sunday school class that is, quite possibly, unlike any class you've attended before. In his free time, Patrick likes collecting records, watching movies, and skateboarding. He and his wife Evonne have two daughters.

Patrick had one bass lesson in 1998, and also 25 years of experience playing bass, guitar, and drums.
